Mommy Mommy

Days like today are just so hard.  I love being a mom and I love spending time with Elliot but there are days that all I want to do is crawl into bed and not be a mommy.  Today was one of those days.  I think my day felt this way because Jason didn't stick to our schedule of keeping Elliot with him till he leaves for work, instead he put Elliot in bed with me with a movie on and juice.  Normally this is fine except for the fact that Elliot had a cookie that he decided half way through he didn't like and so I woke up with a cookie stuck in my hair.  The afternoon was pretty much the same Elliot was grumpy about anything and everything, the house was gross and needed a serious cleaning, laundry has somehow managed to take over again, and my bedroom that I just deep cleaned four days ago is disgusting once again from my husband and son.

The day was not all bad because on bad days I make sure I take special moments and enjoy time with Elliot.  On bad days I know I have to search for the fun part of being a mommy and luckily I have a son who helps me out with that sometimes.  We played lots of swords, guns, and scaring each other in the hallway.  We drove his red car around and he helped me do the dishes.  I love being a mommy and even on days where I want to throw the covers up over my head I know that if I didn't have this beautiful boy in my life I would feel so empty without him.

Special Moments

This weekend was wonderful.  I love the weekends but I most of all love spending time together as a family.  During the week I feel like I barely see Jason at all and I know Elliot doesn't see enough of him.  We are working on that.  Our week is so full and so busy because Jason leaves for work at 7:30 and gets home around 5:40 then we eat dinner hang out for a little bit and he plays with Elliot.  At 7 Jason goes to the bedroom to work on his schooling which basically controls our lives.  I have been helping Jason out with his English because I enjoy it and it is nice to make my brain work on something other than "JUICE!" and cars.  Elliot heads to bed at 8:30 but when Jason closes the door at 7 he cries because he misses him.  I am grateful that I have a husband who works so hard and sacrifices so much for me and our family.

Now that I have explained our week I can tell you all about how much I love spending time together as a family. Friday night Elliot went and visited Grandma and Grandpa Simmons while Jason and I had some much needed adult time.  We watched some shows, played some games, and just talked.  I forget how much I miss him during the week when we are both on our own schedules.  Around 8:30 we picked up our crazy little boy and put him down for bed.  He went to bed late so that meant he wasn't going to sleep well which meant he ended up in our bed around midnight.  It was actually such a sweet night all cuddled up together until Elliot starts kicking and is suddenly sleeping sideways--it is torture.  Saturday we were busy and having a lot of fun together.  We got up early and played some games around the house, I did a couple loads of laundry and Jason took off for a church meeting he had.  When he got back around noon we went outside and played in the snow it was so much fun!  Elliot loved running across the snow and even the dogs got into it with us for a bit.  We took a trip to Moses lake and looked at the adorable puppies and bought a few groceries, the day has been really wonderful.  Tomorrow we are having dinner at the in-laws and going to church which are two of my favorite things to do.  I love teaching in primary and I really love the kids I teach, they are hilarious and always tell me funny stories.  I am just so grateful.

Dinosaur Cookies and Snow Days

Suddenly winter hit us and like all the storm warning previous I laughed and said I will believe it when I see it..... it's here!  I love the snow and I love the fact that it isn't just cold instead there is a full blown snow storm outside my window.  Yesterday Elliot and I decided to go outside and enjoy some of this snow.  Elliot didn't want to stay out there long so we hurried up back inside.

Later last night I decided I wanted to make sugar cookies and Jason thought using a Dinosaur cookie cutter was a great idea.  I am all about having fun while baking because I love it!  However, I hate the mess.  Either way the cookies were made and a lesson was learned.  Lesson number one, flour on the counter goes everywhere no matter how hard you try to maintain it. Lesson number 2, there is no RIGHT or WRONG way to frost a Dinosaur cookie.  Needless to say my kitchen is still a disaster and the cookies turned out delicious.
